How We Met
Matthew and I met at a blood drive on campus two weeks after 9/11. Matthew was wearing a Covington Catholic shirt and I was feeling friendly so I tapped him on the shoulder and said, 'Hi - are you going home this weekend?'

'Uh, Yeah.' Matthew responded.

'Good, I need a ride,' I said firmly.

'Um...okay. Do I know you?'

'Nope! But I need a ride!'

A few months later Matthew invited me to a dinner he was being recognized at for his Eagle Scout project. We had a great time and from then on we were a couple!

The Engagement
We first met at a blood drive 2 weeks after 9/11. I thought it would be a great, original idea to propose to her after giving blood and it would give her a unique experience she could remember forever.

I made the arrangements to donate at Community Blood Center in Dayton for June 2. It turns out that June 2 is her father's birthday.

After we donated blood, we went out to my car and told her she should look in the glovebox. I did this for the first gift I gave her, the earrings she still wears every day. Sometimes she opens the glovebox and sees there is nothing there, so she just says 'no present... :( '

On this night, however, I put the empty box in there, and when she opened it and looked at me to say it is empty, I had the ring in hand. I asked her, and she was totally blown away. She said yes, of course!
